Work With Us
MCG is growing. Our roots are in property assessment, and that’s still a big part of what we do – revaluations, contract assessing, field inspections across Maine. But the work has expanded. We’re helping towns with consulting, governance support, financial systems, staff transitions, and the kind of operational challenges that come with running a municipality on limited resources.
That means we’re always looking for good people.
The Work Is Varied
One of the things that sets MCG apart is the range. Depending on your role and experience, you might be:
- Conducting field inspections and property data collection for revaluation projects
- Providing contract assessing services for multiple towns on a regular schedule
- Supporting board training, budget preparation, or compliance reviews
- Helping a town work through a staffing transition or process overhaul
- Managing data in TRIO and municipal assessing systems
No two towns are the same, and the work reflects that. Some weeks you’re in the field. Some weeks you’re in a town office working through records. The variety keeps things interesting, and it means you’re building a broader skill set than most single-town positions offer.
Who We’re Looking For
We don’t have a rigid list of open positions. What we have is steady demand for people who do good work and care about getting it right.
We’re interested in talking with experienced municipal professionals, such as certified Maine assessors, town managers, finance professionals, or administrative staff with hands-on municipal experience. Maybe you’re looking for a change from a single-town role, or you’ve got capacity and want to take on project-based work. We value people who already understand how small towns actually operate.
What It’s Like
MCG is a small team doing real work for real towns. You work directly with experienced people, you’re trusted to handle your responsibilities, and the towns you serve know you by name.
Most of our team is based in central and eastern Maine, though the work takes us across the state. Schedules depend on the role – some positions involve regular weekly commitments to specific towns, others are more project-driven around revaluation timelines.
We’re honest about the work: it requires attention to detail, comfort with data, and the ability to communicate clearly with municipal staff and residents. It also requires showing up consistently – towns count on that.
Let’s Talk
